How to make money from any blog?

make money blogging

Making money from a blog is one of the easiest in this modern economy.

However, I see there are many arguments on how to make money from the blog? Some say you need to wait for at least a year to monetize your blog and some even think that you will never make a significant income from a blog.

In my opinion, both are a myth. In order to make money from the blog. First, you need to treat the blog as a business.

You need to understand how the blogging works. Then set an achievable goal and plan the steps to reach the goal.

Many make a mistake of not having a structured goal and end up writing random content. Eventually failing to succeed and giving up on the blog.

A good blog should be

  • Well structured.
  • Convey a compelling message.
  • Solve a problem that people are searching for.
  • Build a community and earn the trust.
  • Finally, the blog will make you a lot of money automatically.
  • Sounds like a lifetime process? Not really.
  • You can do all that even if you are a new to blogging.

Just need a ton of focus and commitment.

Blogging basics

Blogging as a business works well because of 2 reasons.

  1. Content marketing – It is content driven and attracts more people
  2. Information is wealth – Content that solves a problem easily gain trust and enables to sell more products and services.

According to the research, in online business, a customer visits the product page on an average of 3-5 times before they decide to purchase that product.

Because in the online world, people don’t see you in person to make that personal connection and build the trust.

You need to build that connection with your potential customer to convince them to buy from you.

In the blogging world, it works exactly the same way.

You bring readers to your blog using some good information. If they like the content they see you as an expert in that field.

Since you are solving a problem for them, the readers would start making that connection with you.
You sharing more such content will keep them hooked with you and your blog building a connection.

With the trust and confidence that you have built, they will confidently buy any product or service from you.

This the major advantage of blogging is in a long term. When the process gets automated.

It is a snowball effect.

The more actively you post and provide a solution. Your community will keep growing and bring additional revenue to the blog.

If you understand this concept in detail, it is easier to make money quickly rather than waiting a year to start monetizing the blog.

Here are some of the criteria that will help you create that goal.

Define your target audience

It is important for you to define your target audience. Be very specific in defining these people and their demographics.

Instead of saying I am targeting people who are parents. Try, Mom of 3-8 years old.

The reason is, if you go broad on the niche there could be a variety of people with a variety of problems. It would be impossible for you to be focused on solving one problem.

Instead, you start with a small subset like the mom of 3-8 years olds. Solve their problem first then you move to the next subset like the mom of 9-12 years.
Finally, you would have covered all the sub niches in that broad niche parents.

It is also easy to sell any product or services or even ads when it comes to a smaller group. This is a group who has the same set of issues dealing with their kids.
Rather than solving the problem for all parents.

Understand their pain points

Once you define your sub-niche and your target audience. Next is to understand their burning problem. It is not something they are ok to live with.
The problem should be something that they are actively searching for solutions.

You can do that using google keyword planner by doing extensive keyword research.

Sniff your competition.

Look for a popular competitor in your space and look at the topics they talk about regularly.

You can do that by subscribing to their blog.

Then list down the top 3 things they are teaching about regularly.

And that is the list of issues you are going to address as well.
It works because they have already done the research and figured out what people are looking for, so you just have to leverage that.

Dig deeper into it

Just because we are using their research doesn’t mean we need to copy everything from the competitors.

You need to dig a little bit deeper to find what is missing from the experts.
No one will be able to cover 100% of the problems. So there will some areas that might need improvements.

Identifying Gaps

You need to search for those gaps and opportunity and come up with a solution for that.

It is easy to find that, you just need to read their comments and reviews on the product.

You will find some people who would bring up these issues in the comments. If you see a pattern then that’s the right topic that needs to be addressed.

You could do that with more than one competitor’s blog. The more you find people talking or complaining about a certain topic the better it is for you to pick the topic and solve that.

Provide a simple solution that works

After validating the idea and understanding what people want. Don’t get too excited and come up with some complex solutions.
Look for an easy way to communicate and solve the problem.

Many times people are at the different skill level and they might not be able to understand everything from your content.

You need to make it super simple for them to consume, use simple words and step by step straight forward instructions that are easy to follow.

Also stay open for any comments or conversation that could help them achieve whatever they wanted.

Be prepared to keep improving your content or course based on feedback.

Attract readers

Once you have some solution in place. You need to attract visitors.
As I mentioned earlier, most of your visitors are not going to purchase your solution at first visit.

The key is sending relevant content on regular basis to them. The best way to do that is using emails.
You need to setup email opt-in pages or widgets to collect email from your visitors.

You can encourage them to give you their email in exchange for something like a guide or checklists.

Once you have the email, keep sending them an email on a regular basis to keep them engaged.

If the reader is not engaged with you content, it could be either the reader is not targetted based on your criteria or they are interested in your solution.

It is ok. You can move on to the engaged customer than being worried about the one who is not.

Convert readers to Customers

Make the engaged users go through a process.
You attract your target audience with the appropriate content. That leads to your product.

Warm them up by providing more such content.
Also, entertain them with interesting facts and information related to the subject.
Be very personal, show that you are a person behind the blog.

This process will build trust on you and your blog.

Later, when the time is right. Present the solution that is for sale to the loyal readers. These are people who are most likely to buy stuff from you.

The good news is this whole process can be automated using an email autoresponder. It will take a separate post to explain this.

For now, let’s stick with the manual process.

Customers to repeat customer

Based on psychology, when someone buys something from you. The likelihood of them buying again from you is high.

The thumb rule is, don’t abandon your existing customer.

Treat them well, provide them support and follow up if they have any questions.

When they experience the premium treatment from you, they are most likely to buy more from you.

At the same time, don’t be afraid to upsell additional products or services to the existing customer. There is nothing harm to sell stuff, after all, you are solving a problem for them.

Additionally, it is easy to sell to an existing customer than finding a new one. So focus on better customer experience.

Make more than $1000

This process is something followed by experts in the field to make tens and thousands of $ from the blog.

For starters or even some professional bloggers. They are unaware of this method and end up selling their traffic for cheap ads.

In my opinion, ads take a long time to work and don’t bring significant income for the effort.

If you are wondering, this method is called sales funnel. There are many types of funnels like the one I mentioned. Experts use them regularly to make a ton of money.

Following this process, you will be able to quickly make money too. Depending on how aggressive you are, you can make $1000 or more easily from your blog. Even if you are new to blogging.

Conclusion

Making money from a blog requires an understanding of how the blogging as the business works.
Once you know that solving a real problem will make money. You will be able to make a lot of money from blog easily.
